Thespian couple Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton have kept their celebrity romance firmly under wraps since meeting on the West End. After his very public fling with Taylor Swift, Tom has been very determined to keep this new romance protected from prying eyes. Tom has told journalists, “My work is in the public sphere and I have a private life. And those two things are separate.”
And his equally private partner has remained tight lipped as their relationship progressed. But little hints of their romance have been apparent throughout the years, and now that the pair are engaged and have welcomed their first child, this celebrity is firmly established!
March 2019 – Tom and Zawe First Meet After Being Cast in a West End Play Together
Tom and Zawe has their first encounter when they were both cast in the West End play “Betrayal”. The pair starred together in the play’s opening on March 2019 and both headed to New York when the play transferred to Broadway I n August of the same year.
Although no rumours about romance were swirling just yet, Zawe did mention how comfortable she felt with Hiddleston in an interview with AOL Build Series. The actor gushed about the tightknit cast, proclaiming “I can feel how open we are. I can feel the trust that we have.”
August 2019 – Tom and Zawe Spark Rumours When They Attend the US Open
After moving to NYC for the New York run of Betrayal, Zawe and Tom sparked off rumours that they were together by attending the US Open. Around this time, celebrity outlets began to report that the pair were a couple and had been dating since the rehearsal stages of the play. Nether party confirmed the relationship publicly.
February 2021 – Ashton Joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
In early 2021, it was confirmed that Zawe was following the footsteps of her rumoured love by joining the MCU. Zawe was cast in the villain role for Captain Marvel 2. Fellow MCU Cast member Brie Larson welcomed Ashton to the family with a celebratory Instagram post. And it didn’t take long for fans to realise that this meant Zawe was joining the same superhero franchise which had made her boyfriend world famous in the role of Loki.

The notoriously private pair found themselves caught out while on Holiday in Spain when they were spotted kissing in Ibiza. The couple still didn’t publicly confirm they were together, but the paparazzi pics were confirmation enough!
September 2021 – Zawe and Tom Confirm Their Romance with their Red Carpet Debut
After being caught by the paparazzi in Spain, the couple made things official with a red carpet appearance at the 2021 Tony Awards. Zawe was there to support Hiddleston, who was nominated for his role in Betrayal.
The couple had made several appearances together to publicise their play, but this marked there first outing as an official couple!
March 2022 – The Pair Attend the Baftas and Confirm Their Engagement!
At the 2022 Baftas, Tom and Zawe were more affectionate than they had ever been before in a public setting, cosying up together on the red carpet. Their PDA antics left their fans with no room for doubt about their couple status!
Eagle eyed fans spotted an engagement ring on Ashton’s finger and reps for the couple confirmed that they were indeed betrothed! The pair declined to make any public statements and it is not known where or when the engagement took place.
June 2022 – Tom and Zawe Reveal Pregnancy at a New York Premiere
At the New York Premier of Zawe’s movie “Mr Malcolm’s List”, her baby bump was the talk of the town! In a behind the scenes feature for Vogue, the pregnancy was confirmed as they detailed Zawes preparations for the premiere.
October 2022 – Tom and Zawe Welcome Their First Child
It was reported in US Weekly that Tom and Zawe had welcomed their baby into the world. A source told the magazine, “”Tom and Zawe are loving being new parents and are filled with joy.” The source later went on to say that the new parents weren’t sleeping very much but were “thrilled” with the newest member of their family.
